
Acropora acuminata is a branching stony coral (family Acroporidae, order Scleractinia) distributed across the Indo-Pacific, particularly in the Coral Triangle and Great Barrier Reef. Its colonies form slender, tapering branches with small radial corallites, typically inhabiting shallow reef environments at 1–15 m depth. Like all Acropora, it depends on endosymbiotic Symbiodiniaceae dinoflagellates for photosynthetically derived nutrition and calcification. This species is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to coral bleaching, ocean acidification, and reef degradation. Its genome has been sequenced as part of large-scale comparative coral genomics initiatives.
