
Acropora gemmifera is a compact, arborescent coral (family Acroporidae) found on reef crests and upper reef slopes across the Indo-Pacific, forming dense clusters of short, upright branches with small, rounded radial corallites. Like other Acropora, it hosts intracellular Symbiodiniaceae and is highly susceptible to coral bleaching under thermal stress. The species was part of a landmark multi-species Acropora genome sequencing project contributing to phylogenomic analyses of coral diversification. It is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
