Anthopleura artemisia is a sea anemone (family Actiniidae) found in intertidal and shallow subtidal rocky habitats of the northeast Pacific coast, able to host photosymbiotic zoochlorellae (green algae) or zooxanthellae depending on light availability, making it a facultative photosymbiont. The species forms solitary or clonal aggregations through asexual fission and is an important component of intertidal community structure. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
