Ellipsomyxa sp. 70-BR2022 is an undescribed myxozoan parasite (family Ceratomyxidae) recovered from marine fish in Brazil, assigned a provisional barcode identifier. Myxozoans are obligate endoparasites with drastically reduced genomes and body plans, historically classified as protozoa but now recognized as highly derived cnidarians based on molecular phylogenetics. Species of Ellipsomyxa infect the bile of marine teleost fish and produce characteristic ellipsoidal spores transmitted to alternate polychaete worm hosts.
