Eutonina indicans is a leptomedusa hydrozoan (family Eirenidae, order Leptothecata) found in shelf and oceanic waters of temperate and tropical seas, with small transparent disk-shaped medusae bearing evenly spaced marginal tentacles and statocysts, feeding as planktonic predators on small copepods and invertebrate larvae. Understanding the molecular biology of these abundant but poorly studied hydromedusae is important for characterizing open-ocean biodiversity. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
