Heteractis aurora, the delicate sea anemone (family Stichodactylidae), is found in shallow Indo-Pacific reef environments, typically inhabiting sandy and silty substrates at the base of reefs with most of the column buried and only the oral disc exposed. Like other stichodactylid anemones, it can act as a host to clownfish, particularly Amphiprion perideraion and A. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
