Heteractis magnifica, the magnificent sea anemone (family Stichodactylidae), is one of the largest and most visually striking sea anemones in the Indo-Pacific with a column reaching up to 1 m in diameter, occupying exposed reef crests where it is the most widely distributed host anemone for clownfish, known to associate with at least six Amphiprion species. It is critically important in reef aquaria and marine eco-tourism worldwide. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
