
Madracis auretenra is a branching scleractinian coral (family Pocilloporidae) found in the Caribbean Sea, forming branching colonies with small, closely packed corallites occupying an important phylogenetic position within Pocilloporidae and studied in the context of Caribbean pocilloporid evolution and symbiosis with Symbiodiniaceae on shallow to mesophotic reef slopes. Its genomic resources contribute to understanding pocilloporid diversification and the biogeographic history of Caribbean reef coral faunas.
