
Montipora cactus is a plating to encrusting scleractinian coral (family Acroporidae) distributed across shallow Indo-Pacific reef environments, forming thin, irregularly spreading plates with characteristic verricose (warty) coenosteum surface texture. The genus Montipora is the second most species-rich scleractinian genus and a dominant component of Indo-Pacific reef flat communities.
