
Meandrina meandrites, the maze coral (family Meandrinidae), is a massive scleractinian coral endemic to the Caribbean Sea forming brain-like hemispheres with sinuous valleys and ridges on reefs. Its large colonies are among the longest-lived corals in the Caribbean, potentially surviving hundreds of years. The species is listed as Threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act due to susceptibility to stony coral tissue loss disease (SCTLD).
