Madracis senaria is a scleractinian coral (family Pocilloporidae) found in the Caribbean Sea, forming compact, encrusting to mound-shaped colonies and notable for being one of the only Caribbean representatives of the family Pocilloporidae, studied in the context of biogeographic disjunctions between Pacific and Atlantic pocilloporid faunas. The genus Madracis is a relatively species-poor lineage with interesting morphological variability across environmental gradients that provides insights into coral adaptation. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
