Nanipora kamurai is an octocoral (order Alcyonacea, family Naniporidae) described from the western Pacific, representing a small, encrusting colonial soft coral with a highly reduced skeletal apparatus compared to most alcyonaceans. It belongs to a recently described family whose systematic position within Octocorallia has been clarified through molecular phylogenetics. A genome assembly was produced for N. Its discovery highlights the continued undescribed diversity of shallow-water octocoral fauna in the Indo-Pacific.
