Oculina arbuscula is a zooxanthellate (photosymbiotic) scleractinian coral (family Oculinidae) found in shallow coastal waters of the southeastern United States from North Carolina to Florida, forming branching colonies on rocky and shell-hash substrates in temperate to subtropical reef environments. Unlike most zooxanthellate corals restricted to tropical waters, O. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
