
Palythoa mizigama is a zoantharian (family Sphenopidae) described from the Indo-Pacific, forming encrusting mats of colonial polyps on shallow reef substrates and incorporating sand and skeletal material into the coenenchyme. Like other members of the genus, it may produce palytoxin and related compounds. The species is part of the diverse zoantharian fauna of tropical Indo-Pacific coral reefs.
