Paracalyptrophora sp. SY255-jin is an undescribed deep-water gorgonian coral (family Primnoidae, order Alcyonacea) collected from bathyal environments in Chinese waters and assigned a provisional collection identifier. Primnoidae is a diverse family of cold-water gorgonian corals found at depths of hundreds to thousands of meters, forming important structural habitats in deep-sea ecosystems. Genomic data for deep-sea gorgonians are important for understanding the evolution of cold-water coral communities increasingly threatened by deep-sea resource extraction.
