Pocillopora grandis is a robust, branching scleractinian coral (family Pocilloporidae) distributed across the tropical Indo-Pacific and eastern Pacific, forming thick-branched colonies with coarse verrucae and polyps on exposed reef crests and upper slopes. It was formerly considered part of the Pocillopora eydouxi complex and has been distinguished through molecular phylogenetics as a distinct species. The species is a dominant reef-builder in the eastern tropical Pacific and maintains Symbiodiniaceae photosymbiosis.
