About Pteroeides caledonicum

Pteroeides caledonicum is a sea pen (order Pennatulacea, family Pteroeidae) found in soft-sediment habitats in the Indo-Pacific, particularly around New Caledonia and surrounding tropical seas, forming upright, feather-shaped colonies anchored in sandy or muddy substrates by a basal peduncle. Like other pennatulaceans, it is a suspension feeder with zooid polyps arranged along lateral branches. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
