Rhodactis osculifera is a corallimorpharian (order Corallimorpharia, family Discosomatidae) found in shallow Indo-Pacific reef environments, forming colonial, disc-shaped polyps with distinctive tentacles organized in irregular rows across the oral disc. Corallimorpharians are phylogenetically intermediate between scleractinian corals and sea anemones, lacking a calcified skeleton but sharing many molecular and morphological characters with stony corals. The species is commonly kept in marine reef aquaria. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
