Rhizostoma luteum is a large rhizostome scyphozoan jellyfish (family Rhizostomatidae) found in the Mediterranean Sea and northeastern Atlantic, forming a compact, dome-shaped bell with a distinctive yellow to pale coloration. Like other rhizostomes, it lacks marginal tentacles and feeds through mouth openings on its highly branched oral arms. The species forms seasonal blooms in Mediterranean coastal waters and is an important component of gelatinous zooplankton communities.
