Scolanthus callimorphus is a tube-dwelling sea anemone (family Edwardsiidae) found in soft sediments of temperate coastal waters in the northeastern Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, lacking a pedal disc and instead living in a mucous tube anchored in sandy or muddy substrates with only the oral disc exposed for feeding. Like other edwardsiids, it occupies a basal phylogenetic position within Actiniaria and is important for reconstructing the ancestral body plan of sea anemones. Genomic data have been generated for this species and are available in public databases, enabling comparative studies of cnidarian evolution and ecology.
