Sphaerospora molnari is a freshwater myxozoan parasite (family Sphaerosporidae) infecting cyprinid fish, particularly common carp (Cyprinus carpio), in European freshwater systems and causing sphaerosporosis characterized by kidney and gill pathology in juvenile fish. Like other sphaerosporeans, it alternates between a fish host where it develops myxospores and an alternate oligochaete worm host producing actinospores. It is an economically significant pathogen in European carp aquaculture.
