About Turbinaria reniformis

Turbinaria reniformis is a foliose to funnel-shaped scleractinian coral (family Dendrophylliidae) found in shallow to moderately deep Indo-Pacific reef environments, forming distinctive scroll-like, funnel-shaped, or plate-like colonies with large polyps, and is unique in the family for being zooxanthellate. The species inhabits turbid, low-light reef environments where its unusual morphology maximizes light collection by Symbiodiniaceae. It is studied in the context of coral adaptation to turbid coastal reef conditions.
