
Umimayanthus kanabou is a zoantharian (family Hydrozoanthidae) found in tropical Pacific waters, forming epizoic colonies on hydroid branches in a lifestyle unique among zoantharians. Like other Umimayanthus species, it has small, gracile polyps adapted to colonizing delicate hydroid hosts. The molecular systematics of Umimayanthus and related genera within Hydrozoanthidae are being progressively resolved through whole-genome phylogenetic approaches.
